this is the first post i’ve seen on any social media platform that includes anyone other than just homosexuals and i really appreciate this so thank you
i’d also like to add that, if you’re a democrat, make sure you’re registered to vote as one. while anyone can vote in open primaries you have to be a registered democrat to vote in closed primaries.
Okay, head’s up. This little critter is called a slow loris. NEVER TAKE ONE AS A PET. They’ve experienced a boom in popularity as pets in parts of Asia and then the rest of the world, and this is not okay.
Why?
A) They’re endangered
B) They’re venomous. The only known venomous primate, to be exact. They store it in their inner arms.They’ll get in defensive posture, suck the venom from their glands, and them bite. And the bite can kill a human. (Seriously, one nipped Lady Gaga in Feb 2014 when she thought it would be a good idea to use one in a music video. They dropped that idea, thankfully.)
C) They’re endangered directly BECAUSE OF THE EXOTIC PET TRADE
D) When the poachers trap them, THEY CLIP THEIR FUCKING TEETH TO MAKE THEM “MANAGEABLE.” Many slow loris’ will die before ever being sold because of complications with HAVING THEIR FUCKING TEETH CLIPPED. (There’s a reason the loris’ in the videos are only eating soft foods…)
E) The exotic pet trade on slow loris’ BOOMed because of youtube videos like the one above.
And please make it very clear to everyone who thinks these videos are cute, that the animal in question has been stolen from it’s natural habitat and horrifically abused just so it could be a “cute” pet.
Big Cat Network is a small organization dedicated to wild cat conservation. Our goal is to raise awareness of issues these wild felids face, and work towards securing a stable future for them.
We have been together as a group for almost a year now, growing and learning together along the way. Our minds are set with clear goals and ambitions for the road ahead of us, and our next target is to become a nonprofit by the start of September 2015. By becoming a nonprofit, we can begin spreading our message much further and grow as a legitimate organization.
There are a lot of expenses that go into becoming a nonprofit, however, and, as of right now, we do not have the funding to do so. We need as much help as we can get in getting the funds to cover these expenses.

Good zoos do not keep their animals in “tiny spaces” with no enrichment. I’m not pro-roadside zoo. I’m pro-accredited zoo. Zoos are incredibly important for conservation and education.
