This makes my stomach turn.  This is from Catty Shack Ranch in Jacksonville, Florida.  I think I have gotten asks about this before but the EXTREME lack of concern for the animals(THAT many tigers in one cage? at feeding time?!) and lack of safety measures for people is absolutely appalling.  What a horrendous facility, avoid at all costs.

You can see a similar feeding video here.

The first two pictures have been taken from Instagram user oncaleo’s account. Respectively, the captions say:

i’d love to know why eduardo of #blackjaguarwhitetigeris at #zoofari in mexico visiting ma-tzu’s father and having a good time when the zoo openly admits to allowing visitors to take photographs with the jaguars according to the website. is there a good explanation for this? because it looks really, really bad, and i’m already on the edge with this foundation.

the main page of #zoofari is a huge promotion to take a picture with fari the jaguar. is this a joke? #blackjaguarwhitetiger claims to be against cub petting and exploitation of big cats, so… why is he thanking his friend marcos for letting him see his place [zoofari], with marcos presumably owning it? i have the biggest migraine from this right now. what?

The third picture has been taken from Instagram user blackjaguarwhitetiger. As you can see in the first picture, user oncaleo has taken the picture posted to blackjaguarwhitetiger and put it with a picture from Zoofari’s website. The second picture is a collage of pictures taken at Zoofari.

Evidently, Zoofari in Mexico offers encounters with dangerous predators, such as jaguars, and even cubs. This scheme, known as a cub petting or pay-to-play scheme, is highly popular in unaccredited, irresponsible, exploitative zoos across the globe. Learn why petting big cats is cruelty:

So, clearly, participating in pay-to-play schemes is cruel and abusive, so why did Eduardo from Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation visit Zoofari when he’s, supposedly, against zoos and his foundation is supposed to be rescuing big cats from these types of schemes? He has 1 MILLION followers, and he just showed all of them that this is ok. Read the comments; they are full of people saying they want a pet jaguar and they want to do just what Eduardo is doing. Add this to the list of reasons why Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation will never receive any bit support from me.

Reckless Tiger Cub Petting Zoo: Undercover Investigation at GW Exotic Animal Park

panthxra:

For approximately 4 months in the summer and fall of 2011, a Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) investigator worked as an animal caretaker at GW Exotic Animal Park (“GW”) in Wynnewood, Okla. where hundreds of animals – most of them dangerous exotics such as tigers, lions, bears, chimpanzees and other primates – are caged in barren conditions, bred to provide infant animals for public photo shoots and “play time” sessions and often cared for by workers who have little-to-no experience handling large carnivores or primates.

The HSUS investigation of GW revealed a commercial operation—that often seeks donations for “rescued” animals—that endangers both animals and the public along with possibly violating federal and state laws and regulations…

The Tiger Cubs and the Piglet

(source: http://aol.it/1nCL58a)

Not cute. Interspecies interaction between a wild cat and an animal of a different species would never happen at a responsible zoo (except cheetahs and dogs—the dogs are used to keep the cheetahs calm as they are naturally anxious animals). Only shitty, exploitative zoos that are looking for a little publicity pull crap like this, and they should never be supported. As cubs, they can still inflict nasty scratches or bites and diseases can be passed from one animal to the other, so they are kept apart. When the animals get older, big cats are too dangerous to keep with other species, so they are kept apart. Really at no point in a big cat’s life should they be in contact with other species—especially ones that wouldn’t stand a chance against an animal such as a tiger. Don’t support facilities that do this—it’s not cute.

Guys, I know this is a PETA link and you know how I feel about PETA but this is a video from Wildlife in Need. Those of us who have seen the posts know that this is the same setup, and this is most certainly Tim Stark(google him, it’s the same guy). He is giving his “safety” talk to guests about to play with tiger cubs.
I will warn you, there is nothing really graphic other than language but for anyone like me who gets REALLY worked up about big cats, will 100% be pissed off at the end of this video. I was shouting through the whole thing.
Here, Tim Stark gives misinformation about golden tigers and the “need” to breed them, and holds up a months old tiger BY HIS SCRUFF ONLY. I can’t and won’t write much more because I am completely livid and this is the best I can do. Just watch. And understand why I don’t mess around with anyone who tries to defend Wildlife in Need to me. This place is not a zoo. It is not a sanctuary. It is 100% abuse and exploitation.

Jesus christ he holds the tiger in the way that makes it hard for cubs to freaking breathe, then wants to act like the cubs’ anger is unwarranted…

There is a member of the Bowmanville Zoo family…  A one month old baby tiger named “BT Max”!  He is very playful and incredibly cute.  Did you know that when full grown, tigers are the largest member of the cat family? In the early 1900s there were an estimated 100,000 tigers in the wild, now there are only 3,000-4,500!  A main factor in the decline of tiger populations is deforestation.  A way you can help is to ensure you avoid using any products with palm-oil in them! (You will be saving, monkeys, tapirs, birds, and many more animal’s homes too)!

Wow, what a cute tiger cub! What subspecies do you all breed, and under what program? I’m trying to find it on your website, but it doesn’t say anything about a specific breeding program? You should also be more informative regarding the subspecies you breed.

The first thing I see when I google your zoo, is “Bowmanville Zoo is a zoo in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the largest suppliers of animals for Hollywood movies and television programs.” Wow! All I’m seeing here is “one of the largest suppliers for exploitative and cruel practices”! On the “tigers” page on your website, it says your tiger, Jonas, was one of the tigers used in Life of Pi. Nice! At least now I kno

The first thing I see when I go to your website is “Lion Cub Encounters” in big, bold letters! So cool! I love exploitative schemes! You also have big cat encounters! Amazing! So responsible! Not dangerous at all!

Oh, and what is this?:

Animals made to perform in front of crowds? Sounds like a circus to me!

And this?:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Look at the size of that cub! Old enough and big enough to do some real damage, even in play! Fantastic!

Amazing!

Also to ensure the safety of the general public since you let people hold your cubs, right? “Health and safety of our animals” ha! I’m laughing! Huge thumbs up to @aphroditevegan for this one!

I’m honestly so disgusted with facilities that pull crap like this because they aren’t just your average ill-informed Joe. There is no excuse for exploitative facilities. If you run a facility, you know what’s responsible and what’s not; you know what’s detrimental and what’s not. There is literally no excuse for this. This is sick.
